A krakowian history of academia

Jagiellonian University in Kraków, Collegium Maius

In the 14th century the Academy of Krakow (later the Jagiellonian University) one of the oldest universities in Europe was founded. Nicolaus Copernicus (Mikolaj Kopernik) was one of its students.

Kraków is one of the greatest centres of science with:

  • AGH University of Science and Technology
  • Krakow University of Technology
  • Krakow University of Economy
  • and more.


In 1978 Krakow was entered in the UNESCO World Heritage Register with 8 of 19 Polish UNESCO heritage sites.
